Mercedes have sent their brand new W13 out on track at Silverstone, as the newly-launched car is being shaken down on Friday afternoon.

Despite the windy, blustery conditions, with the UK hit by Storm Eunice, Mercedes peeled out on track at lunchtime with George Russell at the wheel of the new 2022 F1 car – just hours after the team launched the W13.

Mercedes are carrying out a filming day - one of two permitted for the year - in order to conduct systems checks while also recording promotional footage and images for use throughout the season.

Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is also set to get behind the wheel later in the afternoon.

The team are restricted to just 100 kilometres of track running, which must be carried out on specific Pirelli tyres.
