WATCH: This year's biggest and most bizarre Dakar crashes

It's been another eventful year at the Dakar rally in Saudi Arabia, with countless crashes and some bizarre scenes in a thrilling contest.

One of the more peculiar moments was Carlos Sainz Sr asking a helicopter driver to turn back and return him to his car while being airlifted to hospital. It later turned out that he suffered from multiple broken bones in the crash.

During the early stages of the event, the Century CR6 of Michel Kremer and Thomas de Bois also went up in flames in a horrific crash. Thankfully both escaped without any injuries.

Many of the spectators managed to catch some of the spectacular moments while in the deserts.
