Aston Martin's 2022 season is officially underway, with the team carrying out their first day of track running after heading to Silverstone for a shakedown.
Having launched their 2022 F1 car, the AMR22, at an event at Aston Martin Lagonda's headquarters in Gaydon on Thursday, the outfit decamped across the road to Silverstone for a filming day on Friday.
Teams are permitted two such days every season, with many often choosing to use the first of these as a means to shake down their cars and iron out any niggles before pre-season testing begins.
Lance Stroll was given the responsibility of taking the wheel of the AMR22 for the first time, heading out on track at Silverstone for a handful of laps, before handing over to Sebastian Vettel in the afternoon.
As per filming day rules, the team had a mileage limit of 100 kilometres, and carried out the driving on specially-designed Pirelli tyres.
Technical Director Andrew Green has explained why the team elected to move so quickly to get the car on track, given there are still almost two weeks until testing begins in Barcelona.
