Verstappen condemns 'disgusting' fans burning Hamilton merchandise

Max Verstappen has condemned F1 fans who were seen burning Lewis Hamilton merchandise at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Images emerged online of the individuals carrying this out over the race weekend at the Hungaroring, and Verstappen was asked for his thoughts on their actions in the post-race press conference.

The Red Bull driver made his feelings on the subject very clear.

"That's of course not acceptable," Verstappen told media, including RacingNews365.com.

"These individuals… I definitely don't agree with that, because that's just disgusting."

Verstappen praises F1 fans who behave

Verstappen pointed out that most fans generally behave well.

"Overall, I think the majority of the fans were cheering a lot, throughout the race and also on the podium for every driver. I think that's how it should be," the Dutchman added.

"And yeah, those videos, or video, of burning merch, I think that's disgusting."

It comes after F1's drivers joined CEO Stefano Domenicali and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem in launching the Drive it Out initiative, aimed at ending any kind of abuse within the sport.
