Daniel Ricciardo completed a "dream" test drive in Dale Earnhardt's 1984 Wrangler Chevrolet Monte Carlo at the Circuit of the Americas on Saturday.
In a pre-season bet between McLaren boss Zak Brown and new-signing Ricciardo, it was agreed that if the Australian claimed a podium finish in 2021, he would be given the chance to drive Earnhardt's car.
The car is owned by Brown, who boasts an extensive collection of race-winning machines.
Ricciardo races with the number 3 in F1 as a tribute to Earnhardt, who died in a crash at Daytona in 2001. He is also sporting a special Earnhardt-themed helmet design at this weekend's United States Grand Prix.
Ricciardo won the bet with Brown by leading a McLaren 1-2 in Italy last month.
Ahead of Saturday's final F1 free practice session at COTA, Ricciardo headed out for a short run in the NASCAR stock car, completing donuts and waving to fans as he toured the track.
