Sebastian Montoya, the son of former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya, has joined the official Red Bull Junior Team.
The 17 year-old joins the driver development programme that seeks to identify future racing stars, after a busy 2022 season.
Montoya competed in the full championships for Formula Regional Asia, where he won two races and finished in the top ten, and Formula Regional European.
He later contested his first race in the F1 support series Formula 3 at the Zandvoort round, achieving a best finish of P8 in both the Sprint and Feature races.
Announcing the news on social media, Montoya said: "This past year, I became part of the brand’s athletes and now we will work together for the ultimate goal: F1."
Montoya is the third new addition to the Red Bull Junior Team in recent weeks, along with Zane Maloney and Enzo Fittipaldi.
He expected to contest the full F3 season in 2023 according to comments made by Helmut Marko in a recent interview with Auto Motor und Sport, and will race in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship between January and February.
