Horner responds to FIA investigation into Wolff family

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has reacted to the fallout between the FIA, Formula 1 and the Wolff family.

The governing body announced that it will be investigating "media speculation" into Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff, over alleged confidential information being discussed between himself and wife Susie Wolff.

The concerns were raised over whether there is a potential conflict of interest between Toto and Susie Wolff, with the former being privy to confidential information about Formula One Management (FOM) activities.

It is alleged that Susie Wolff would also have access to discussions between Team Principals, which could be advantageous to FOM.

Every team has since issued a statement denying it was them who informed the FIA, with Horner reiterating Red Bull's position.

"We have a big rivalry on track, but we haven't raised a specific complaint about Mercedes, or Toto, or Susie, to the FIA," Horner told Sky Sports.

Horner added that Red Bull has been heavily involved with the F1 Academy, having dealt directly with Susie Wolff who is the series Managing Director.

"Red Bull is the team that has been most involved with the F1 Academy since its inception, to the point that between the two Red Bull-owned teams we'll be entering three cars," said Horner.

"So we've been working closely with Susie, who has been doing a great job on the F1 Academy.

"We were quite surprised at the statement that came out [from the FIA], but it certainly wasn't instigated or required or set off by Red Bull."
