Sergio Perez's Red Bull future will be dealt with "when we face it", according to boss Christian Horner.

Despite securing second in the standings in 2023, Perez was largely unable to match team-mate Max Verstappen, winning just two races to Verstappen's 19.

The Dutchman also bagged 575 points to Perez's 285, with the Mexican's contract set to expire at the end of the 2024 season.

Daniel Ricciardo has been open in his desire to take the seat back for 2025 with both Perez and Horner often facing questions about his future.

Horner has been firm in Red Bull's desire to keep Perez on for 2024, but beyond that, the team will simply handle negotiations when the time demands.

Horner's Perez update

"We'll deal with that when we face it," Horner told media including RacingNews365.

"What we want is that if you see Checo's performances in the first part of the year, Bahrain was very, very tight with Max and the race in Saudi was great with the two of them pushing each other really hard with fine margins.

"In Azerbaijan, winning the Sprint and Grand Prix there, they are the types of performances that we know he is capable of, and it is just about getting him back into that mind frame to get the most out of him and back to those levels of performance."
