Kevin Magnussen has explained a Haas policy which has, so far, enabled a cooperative relationship between himself and new Formula 1 teammate Nico Hulkenberg.
Magnussen scored his and Haas' first point of 2023 with tenth place in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after passing Yuki Tsunoda late in the race.
Hulkenberg finished 12th, and raced in close attendance with Magnussen throughout the race, but as the Dane explained afterwards, the two drivers have an agreement which decrees that they will not fight each other for position.
"We have a policy at Haas that we don't block each other," Magnussen told media, including RacingNews365.com.
"After the first lap, we don't really want to get in each other's way. We don't fight each other.
"We push – I can push to try and keep him behind, but I can't close the door.
"It's just being nice to each other and making sure that we are working for the team and not for ourselves."

Hulkenberg happy with Haas policy
Despite finding himself behind Magnussen in Jeddah, Hulkenberg told media afterwards that he agreed with Haas' approach to intra-team battles.
"I think it's a good rule," Hulkenberg told media, including RacingNews365.com.
"We don't want to make each other's life harder. We're here to maximise our performance and scoring as a team.
"So I think it's perfectly fine. Absolutely no problems there."
