Williams have announced that Nyck de Vries will make his Formula 1 debut in the Italian Grand Prix, replacing Alex Albon on health grounds.
The London-born Thai is undergoing treatment for appendicitis at a local hospital and so is unable to continue, with the decision made after seeking medical advice from the FIA.
de Vries, who is a Mercedes junior driver will therefore step in to debut in Grand Prix racing, having driven for Aston Martin in Friday practice at Monza.
The Dutch 2020/21 Formula E World Champion has also driven for Williams and Mercedes during other FP1 outings in the season in Spain and France, respectively.
Albon remains in "good spirits" according to a team statement.
